part i.
Character name: Commander Jane Shepard
Fandom: Mass Effect/2/3
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Human, with cybernetic enhancements.
Character powers: I think here some wiki articles will be most informative. Shepard's class is Adept, which means she is a biotic - kind of like telekinesis, mostly used to throw people around with her brain. The adept article lists out the specific talents an adept Shepard has - I'll be going with the basic ones from ME2/3, which are warp - does some damage and staggers a single target; pull - does what it says on the tin, pulls the target up into the air and sets them drifting; throw - does what it says on the tin; shockwave - a series of energy bursts that can send multiple opponents in a straight line flying; singularity - which can pull two or three opponents toward its center, leaving them defenseless for a short period of time.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion? Mind-controlling is very possible, particularly by psychic/magical means - Shepard will have no defenses against that kind of thing. Persuasion without magic will be much, much tougher. She's successfully resisted the brainwashing (called "indoctrination") that the Reapers perform on organics for years.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain. Sure! Her mind is pretty well-organized, as she's able to compartmentalize things, though digging deep enough will reveal a lot of violence and generally horrifying stuff.
She has also been the receiver of several messages originated by the Protheans, a long-extinct species from her universe who were capable of communicating via psychic link, but in a very particular way that not even she fully comprehends. If anyone wishes to access the part of her mind that contains the Cipher, it's best to talk it out with me so we can try to figure out what they would see/experience as it's... kind of tough to describe!
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up? Absolutely!
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours? Absolutely! Shepard is good at keeping control of herself, but I imagine an empath would sense a lot of her underlying passion, as well as her self-doubt and fear.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned? Nothing that I can think of off the top of my head - anything in her head will generally be fair game for telepaths/empaths to talk about!
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos? She's a bit tall, for a woman, about 5'10", and she carries herself like a military officer, so any military-types will probably pick up on that right away! Otherwise she looks like a pretty normal caucasian woman, with red hair and green eyes.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses? Shepard is not immune to anything, per se, though she has a high tolerance for chemical substances like drugs and poisons that would be lethal to most humans - again, she's not immune, it just takes more of it to cause her harm than one would think.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability. Shepard has a number of cybernetic implants, which are not visible outwardly, but which definitely have an effect on her abilities. For one thing, she's got a very high tolerance for drugs and alcohol, so if someone wanted to, say, sedate her, the dosage required to do so is much higher than what would normally be expected for a person of her size. It may knock her out, but she'll regain consciousness much more quickly than expected! She can also imbibe alcoholic beverages that would normally be a very bad idea for a human to be drinking - she can drink pretty much any human under the table if she wants!
In addition, she has higher endurance/stamina than most humans, and requires a bit less sleep and food.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly? Yeah, I'm generally fine with injuries, but I also like to talk things out/plot before going too far down that road!
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry? Shapeshifting would be fine in general, just give me a heads-up first. As for ability mimicry, I don't know how feasible that would be, so again, let's talk it out.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all? Sure, if a character is capable of sensing/seeing auras, I suppose hers would be, ah, rather war-like, and/or heroic?
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses? Yep.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)? Yep.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event? Pride is the most likely. Shepard has a pretty big savior complex, and tends to feel responsible for everyone she comes into contact with, as though she and only she is able to fix everyone's problems. She's not an egotistical person, per se, but I can see how she could potentially go down that road, given the right circumstances.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot? Oh yeah. She's had visions and strange dreams before; it wouldn't be anything terribly new to her.
part v.
1. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances? Absolutely, unless it's explicitly marked private, feel free.
2. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced? Ahaha, yeah sure, but let's chat about it first. :)
3. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)? Not particularly.
4. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey? I can't think of anything!
